Over in Ulster County, near Saugerties NY, there is an area where much of the bluestone is mined. It is a magnificent stone and used for almost everything. Opus 40 is the effort of an artist Harvey Fite, who decided to spend 40 years building a bluestone monument. He lived 38 years after starting the project. It is monumental and positioned with the high Catskill mountains as a backround. If you get over to Ulster County it is worth the visit.
