I’m back at the farm and just spent two weeks in Shanghai which was high on my bucket list. I have been trying (the right word0 to learn Chinese for the last few years and figured I would make great progress if i dove in and tried to speak for two weeks. After two weeks my speaking has improved substantially but unfortunately everyone in Shanghai speaks Chinese and I struggle to understand what everyone is saying! Now I have to deal with the decision about whether to continue or to give up. There are 1.5 billion people in china and they all seemed to have learned how to speak it so I may keep soldiering on.

So the Kentucky Derby and the Brickyard, the Indianapolis 500, are still on the list. And so far I am told that people in Indianapolis and Louisville speak English so I should be ok there.
