They will be approaching their first month on this earth and they are growing nice and fast. They went through the first 50 pounds of chick/starter feed like, as they used to say up here, Grant went through Richmond. I apologize to my readers in Virginia and Georgia but best as I know there are only two of you.
Any anyway my great grandfather was a confederate soldier from Richmond and fought in the Battle of Drewry’s Bluff. I’ve never been able to find out much about Drewry’s Bluff as it wasn’t an important battle, in fact it may well have been a card game.
But back to the chicks the 12 Rhode Island Reds are all healthy as are the four mystery birds that were for sale for half price. There is no way to know their sex or breed but they are beginning to look a lot like Plymouth Rocks. I’ll post a picture when they are a few months old and maybe one of my readers will recognize the breed.
